This generous $5,000 scholarship has been awarded in memory of Allyson Armistead Allred, 1988 graduate of Briarwood Christian School. Allyson was married to John Allred, a 1987 graduate of Briarwood Christian School. John and Allyson were high school sweethearts and were married after John graduated from The University of North Alabama and Allyson graduated from Auburn University. They have two children, Lindsey and John David, both graduates of Spain Park High School. Lindsey graduated from Auburn University and John David is a student a Troy University. Lindsey is now married to Briarwood graduate Bentley King. Allyson won her 18-year battle with cancer on April 24, 2019, and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Allyson’s life was one filled with her strong faith in Jesus Christ, her love for family, her enduring friendships, and her contagious, positive attitude.
John, Lindsey and John David desire to honor Allyson by awarding an annual college scholarship to a deserving, graduating senior at Briarwood Christian School that exhibits a life of faithfulness and service.
This year's recipient is Briarwood senior Anne Marie Thompson who will be continuing her studies at Mississippi State University.
