The World Games Birmingham 2022 Mural by Briarwood Christian School Artists

Belinda Youngblood from Briarwood Christian School along with our Fine Arts Academy students are proud to be a part of The World Games and Hibbett | City Gear “It’s the Right Time to Love One Another” Mural. The mural can be found in Oak Mountain State Park at the Marina fountain where multiple sporting events will take place.

This 12,000 square foot mural was designed in collaboration with our Honors Art Students and painted in three days by over 80 of our school artists. The message of the mural, “It's the Right Time to Love One Another” is communicated through the artwork but also by the student artists who came together to work on the mural. From the concept design to the final painting, our love for each other, the City of Birmingham, and our desire to welcome the world has been the theme. The message of our mural is more than the beautiful artwork, it is about our artist's recognition that they are a part of something greater than themselves. Our creativity is a gift that flows from our Creator.

We are so excited for The World Games Birmingham 2022 and the opportunity to be a part of this legacy.  The design of the World Games Mural reflects the coming together of all the world in the spirit of competition.  Each sport included in the World Games is represented through icon imagery placed on colorful tiles.  The theme  “It’s the Right Time to Love One Another” is embodied by the movement of the tiles  “floating” in water from the center of the fountain in harmony. Our hope is that the playfulness of the mural will engage an atmosphere of community and activity for spectators and will leave lasting memories for those who experience it.

Thank you, Hibbett | City Gear and The World  Games 2022 for allowing us to be part of this legacy.

A special thank you to our Lions Head Media Producer Anderson Louden, and to our film crew Knox Merry and Andy Foust.
