The Executive Assistant to the Superintendent provides consistent, confidential, and professional administrative support for the Superintendent. The Upper School Mathematics Department at Briarwood Christian School seeks a dynamic and experienced full-time Junior High School Mathematics Teacher for the 2021-2022 academic year to begin on-site onboarding with new faculty training no later than July 26. We are looking for a teacher who exhibits excellence in and out of the classroom for the glory of God and who strives to holistically develop his/her students to become: Growing Disciples of Jesus Christ, Responsible Stewards, Compassionate Neighbors, and Courageous Learners. We are interested in candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching through multiple levels of the high school mathematics curriculum, from the introductory level through the AP level.

High School Counselor Grades 9-11
Description
The Counseling Department at Briarwood Christian School seeks an experienced High School Counselor to work with students in Grades 9-11. Supporting the school’s overall goals to holistically develop learners made in the image of God to become: Growing Disciples of Jesus Christ, Responsible Stewards, Compassionate Neighbors, and Courageous Learners.
Requirements and Responsibilities
- Must be a mature evangelical Christian who agrees with the school’s Statement of Faith and whose lifestyle is consistent with the school’s Declaration of Moral Integrity (both available on the school’s website)
- Must be a member in good standing of a local evangelical church
- Must be able to articulate a deep understanding of a Biblically informed philosophy of Christian education

Key Duties of the High School Counselor Grades 9-11
1. Implements the high school counseling and guidance program curriculum: Conducts counseling learning activities in the classroom for each grade level during the year in collaboration with the teaching staff, consults with and is a resource to teachers to facilitate the infusion of counseling content into the regular education curriculum.
2. Guides and counsels groups and individual students through the development of educational and career plans: Collaborates with middle school personnel to assist students in making a smooth transition to high school, provides orientation activities for incoming students and their parents; informs students and parents of tests results and their implications for educational and career planning, guides students in updating their high school four year educational plans, assists with planning and coordination of the registration of students, coordinates career assessments and interprets results for students to assist in their career and educational planning, guides all students to develop educational/career plans through the teaching and or supervision of career development activities, provides for the systematic and efficient dissemination of current, accurate information needed by students and/or parents as they develop their educational or career plans; provides individual assistance to students regarding personal, social, educational, and career issues and plans.
3. Consults with small groups and individual students: Conducts structured, goal-oriented counseling sessions to meet the identified needs of individuals and groups of students. Helps develop a four-year plan for EACH student by meeting with the student and parent in an individual conference.
4. Consults and collaborates with teachers, staff, and parents in understanding and meeting the needs of students, facilitates conferences with teachers and/ or parents and/or students, plans and conducts or facilitates with implementation of parent education programs, assists families with school-related problems and issues, develops newsletter for parents.
5. Refers students with problems and their parents to appropriate specialists, special programs, or outside agencies: Consults and collaborates with specialists such as clinical psychologists, social workers, service agencies and others.
6. Participates in activities that contribute to the effective operation of the school: Cooperates and collaborates with other professionals in enhancing the education of students, establishes and maintains effective relationships with instructional departments and administrators, cooperates with other school personnel in placing students with special needs in appropriate programs, assists with interpreting group test results to faculty and administration for use in enhancing instruction, communicates with administrators, teachers, staff, students, parents and the community regarding the counseling and guidance program and its role in the educational program.
7. Plans, evaluates, and revises the counseling and guidance program: Reviews the counseling and guidance program annually with the guidance department staff and guidance program advisory committee, communicates regularly with other counseling staff to establish and maintain a sequential comprehensive counseling and guidance program, identifies student needs periodically and uses the results for program planning, establishes a planning calendar for counseling and guidance program activities, evaluates the counseling and guidance program.
8. Pursues professional growth: Attends local, state, and national staff development programs, joins professional counseling and guidance associations, attends local, state, and national workshops and conferences sponsored by professional organizations, reads professional journals, completes postgraduate courses.

Junior Year
- Continue to monitor academic progress. Junior year grades are the final grades that will influence the college application.
- Continue involvement in activities that will develop leadership skills; update the extracurricular portfolio.
- Assure that all juniors have registered for the October PSAT/NMSQT; register for the SAT, ACT, and SAT Subject Tests in the spring.
- Set up the college application process checklist.
- Encourage juniors and their families to begin to learn about financial aid (grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study)
- Encourage juniors to develop a preliminary list of colleges. Encourage juniors to continue to research colleges aiming for a final list of three to eight colleges.
- Encourage juniors to attend college fairs and visit college campuses during spring break and summer vacation.
- Encourage juniors to choose meaningful summer activities: academic or enrichment programs, volunteer activities or employment.
- Begin preparation with juniors for the application process by encouraging them to begin a first draft of their essays, assemble portfolios, asking teachers to write letters of recommendation, etc.

Middle School/Junior High (7th-8th) Mathematics Teacher

ACT / SAT Instructor General Job Description:
The primary responsibilities of the ACT/ SAT instructor revolve around helping students prepare for the ACT / SAT exam. The instructor teaches each student to prepare for the test, facilitates practice tests, and teaches strategies for standardized test taking that are specific to each subtest. An ACT/SAT Certified Instructor would be preferred.
Career Prep Instructor General Job Description:
The instructor’s job is to help students explore who they are NOW and who they may BECOME in the future.
In helping students explore their NOW, the instructor will lead students through assessments related to personality, learning styles, natural strengths, and personal interests. Regarding who students may BECOME, the instructor will help students explore what is coming later in high school, in college, in graduate school, and in a career.The instructor will guide students through online personal assessments, oversee the creation of resumes, and guide research into college, career, and technology topics.
While pursuing these topics, the instructor will help students hone their communication and technology skills on google platform apps such as Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Drive.
Finally, the instructor will help students learn to make public presentations in an increasingly professional manner.
