This spring, 26 students and 6 adults from Briarwood Christian School went on a missions trip to Belize. We worked with two main groups in the Corozal District of Belize. Our team served at Presbyterian Day School, the oldest Presbyterian school in the country, by building a playground and working in classrooms. The other ministry we worked with was The House of Dorcas, which houses women that have been trafficked or from domestic abuse. At The House of Dorcas, we built a privacy wall so the women can now spend time outside without fear of being seen. Our students worked extremely hard all week in the hot sun and never complained. Our students almost finished the entire project, which the workers at House of Dorcas were blown away by. Several evenings during our time we played soccer, volleyball, and many other activities with local children at the Presbyterian Medical Clinic. It was a joy to watch our students spread the love of Christ with all those they encountered.
Our plan is to go back to Belize along with a trip to HueHuetenango, Guatemala. Other trips are also in the works. Please consider how you may serve cross-culturally in the future and look for more information regarding our trips this coming fall.
