DAR awards for exceptional writing, artwork, and citizenship.
On Wednesday, March 1st, several of our students were recognized and awarded by the General Sumter chapter of the DAR for exceptional writing, artwork, and citizenship.
Fifth through eighth graders were invited to participate in the American History Essay contest.
The following students were recognized:
5th grader Rhealyn Youngblood (Local winner)
6th grader Finley Corcoran (Local winner and 1st place in State)
7th grader Rhett Shadinger (Local winner and 2nd place in State)
8th grader Olivia Chang (Local winner and 1st place in State)
Senior Hayden Fixler won the local contest and placed 2nd in State in the American Patriot Essay contest for high schoolers.
Senior Sam Olsen was awarded the DAR Good Citizen Award for exemplifying the characteristics of leadership, service, dependability and patriotism.
Our DAR art contest winners were also recognized.
