No One Fights Alone

"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

Over 1,000 Briarwood upper school students, faculty, staff and parents gathered to honor Coach Peterson and his wife Valarie to show support for him as he prepares to undergo surgery December 3rd for his recently diagnosed brain tumor.

From the thunderous applause when they entered the gym, to pin drop silence when Coach Peterson shared his story and prayer requests, to the reverent sincerity of our season of prayer, it was obvious that Coach Peterson and Val are deeply loved by their Briarwood family.

As students offered a treasure chest full of cards loaded with Scripture and words of encouragement, and each JH and HS team presented him with a card or gift, and we shared the donations raised in one day to off-set medical costs, it was more than evident that the body of Christ is in this fight with the Petersons. We were so humbled and blown away that in one day, our Briarwood family raised over $27,000...and more money keeps coming in!

Today, students were gifted with a vibrant picture of what it means to do life within the body of Christ as we bear up and support those who are suffering. This was a beautiful Briarwood day that I hope will long be etched in the hearts and minds of students alike for many days and years to come. To say that “NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE” sounds good - but to experience it like today is a blessing beyond words. To God be the glory!
